With friends for long weekend break mooching around Chesil beech area, hired house in village, braved elements (savage) walked wet dogs lots and thankfully discovered a proper country pub to warm ourselves up in. Roaring fire, good guest ales, welcoming landlady & staff. Decided to eat here (good move on our part) Scallops to start were fantastic as was Lemon Sole with crab butter with all the trimmings as main. Such good value went back next day, had homemade turkey & leek pie which was both substantial & tasty followed by warming Sticky Toffee pudding, mmm, wife had a perfectly cooked steak with local cheese board to follow all with a nice bottle of Rioja. Really really good value. Returning in Summer (when not -9 wind chill hopefully) and going to lounge around their garden if dogs can be convinced not to monopolize the fireplace. Well worth an entry into the black book of proper country pubs!
